Stops rust immediately
and removes deep rust layers.
WAGNER Rust Converter is a highly concentrated product that, when mixed with water, perfectly removes rust by infiltrating and detaching deep-seated rust layers. No sanding is required! The extremely low viscosity of Wagner Rust Converter allows it to penetrate rust even in the tightest and hardest to get at places! At the same time, the rust converter creates a dark grey phosphate layer on the metal surface which serves as a perfect corrosion inhibitor.
Anti-Corrosion Coating
The dark grey layer (phosphate) left by WAGNER Rust Converter on iron and steel effectively protects metal surfaces from rust. The derusted surface is left perfectly cleaned and ready for final coating with paint, resin, lacquer, tar, wax, tin, zinc or plastic.
Improved Rust Protection of Metal
Treatment with WAGNER Rust Converter improves the rust protection of the metal and the adhesion of the final protective treatment. On non-ferrous metal surfaces, such as aluminium or zinc sheet, WAGNER Rust Converter is suitable for priming bare metal surfaces (pre-etching). It is therefore also a good idea to treat new, rust-free metals with WAGNER Rust Converter.
Application
WAGNER Rust Converter can derust every metal surface.
Dosing
Do not use WAGNER Rust Converter undiluted.
Before application, dilute with water at a ratio of 1:2 or 1:5. The fluid should remain on the surface to be derusted for 1-2 days. If necessary, re-wet the surface from time to time and if required repeat the process to achieve the desired effect. A cloth can be immersed and used to keep the surface wet or a paste made with saw dust or wood dust and water. In certain cases, complete immersion may be the best option.
Even when diluted at a ratio of 1:60 (1 part of Rust Converter, 60 parts of water), WAGNER Rust Converter works reliably IF left long enough on the surface. If during the treatment, rust or dirt peels off, remove it thoroughly. Lastly carefully clean all treated surfaces with acetone or brake cleaner to neutralize the Rust Converter. After the surface is dry any final protective coatings can be applied (tank sealer, paint, etc.)
WAGNER Rust Converter does not corrode aluminium or non-ferrous metals. Nor is soft solder or brazing solder affected in any way. When used as instructed, WAGNER Rust Converter is neutral on paint and rubber. In high concentrations, extended immersion or if used undiluted, some paints and types of rubber can be damaged if drops or splashes are not neutralised with water and washed off in time.
WAGNER Rust Converter works reliably even at temperatures around 0° Celsius and does not have to be warmed beforehand. WAGNER Rust Converter is easy to use, leaves no spots and in most areas can be disposed of in the sewage system*.
